Funny you should mention that right now.
I am a newbie to PD. I’ve joined my University’s new Electro-Acoustic ensemble and we are using Raspberry Pi 3 Plus’s with Pure Data and a bunch of logic mapped into it. We have a quad-stereo monitor setup and can control the routing of each instrument with Wiimotes.
I’ve also begun mapping parameters…[Read more]
This is pretty awesome and relevant stuff to AT’s SDCompo being how instrumental Amiga computers were in the advent of tracking.
The trailer has been out for a couple months but digital release of the film is now with hard-copies coming in February.

Duuude! Congrats man! Hey — I see more Sunvox in your tracking future! 😉
Speaking of, I’m going to get into it myself. I’m in a new electronic music ensemble at the college and as part of our lab fee for the class, we all received Raspberry Pi 3’s. Perfect for Sunvox. 😀
Also, I am your simpatico music-trucker (half)brother because while I…[Read more]
Sorry for my silence. I don’t want the recent activity-liner to be the Bad News Bears but my wife and I were in a pretty serious car accident in October. We were lucky to come out of it in one piece but it was a bad wreck with our car totaled and lots of medical and chiropractic care.
Anyway, I just shot Sonicade a message so I hope to be…[Read more]
Hey mats, glad you like the pack. 🙂
Yeah FLAC is something we use to provide a smaller file size pack to the majority of users. But there are many trackers/formats that may require them converted to WAV. Sorry for the inconvenience. I know you can use Sunvox and FLAC in Linux but no idea for Android.
Hope the batch conversion process is an…[Read more]
The Round 101 sample pack is ready now.. Just a little while longer while Sonicade codes a new larger file size limit for source submissions! 🙂
So actually throwback rounds have been done a couple times since switching to Audio Tournament. It was’nt advertised as such because it was done for expediency.
I’ll tell you what though, I like what I’m hearing from you guys regarding smaller sample pack and I think we could do a bit of both worlds by taking a look at the size and scope of an…[Read more]
Yes exactly. That’s all good arguments for using the closed packs, be they VST or sample based. I like it too.
The interesting thing there is I think we have continued to make the round packs bigger and bigger. So it is actually easier to use a different set of sounds than your fellow participants.
I think for the most part that is a good thing…[Read more]
ballacr75, I totally agree there’s no easy replacement for softsynth parameter automation.
What’s crazy though is what could be done as work-arounds even in the older days.
I built a real DOS computer recently with a SoundBlaster 16 ISA sound card. I loaded up Impulse Tracker with the MMX filter driver.
I was really surprised by this song made…[Read more]
I’ll apologize in advance if we’ve made points on this topic too much before. There’s no agenda for making this topic other than to brainstorm pros and cons of each.
As I think of it..
Some of the big Pros for VST include
“open” sound design
modern production quality
small amount of files to download
Some of the big Pros for Samples…[Read more]
Based on what I see in that Vitamin E video, it looks like it is being played in Scale Tracker. I dunno what one Daxx originally used. But Scale Tracker is a more modern one for Win/Linux. (edit I might add I downloaded Scale Tracker and played some modules i’m very familiar with and it didn’t play them very accurately).
Also you can get the…[Read more]
What do you want to do? Remix classic Amiga mod?
If Psycle does not import .MOD, it can import .IT. So then use Impulse Tracker to load .MOD and save it as .IT.
Incidentally, yes, nothing sounds as good as played live from the original software/hardware.
This was my purpose of the DOS PC. Now I am listening to these old OPL FM synthesis game…[Read more]
That’s a great topic. I know what you mean.
I love dynamics, but have felt pressure to compete in the loudness wars. I started experimenting with the free plugin OTT which is hyper aggressive compression.
There is no doubt that modern compression and the loudness wars have left their mark.
I think a tasteful producer can/should try to achieve…[Read more]
Hey Alex, I think you can import .MOD to Psycle.. But its been a while I can’t remember. I know it does some formats, even .IT?
Just try it… But also,
If you need help with a specific module conversion let me know.
I am now happy user (again) of a real DOS PC with a Soundblaster 16 ISA card and all the good old apps: Impulse Tracker, Fast…[Read more]
